Every time I drive the main road from my town to the next, I pass this itty bitty house. Have you seen those tiny houses on HGTV? They seem to made out a tiny trailer and have all the amenities of a regular house but they are about the size of one of our bedrooms. Ironically, a neighborhood of mansions sits just past that little house on the main road. It got me thinking: do those little houses really leave a smaller footprint on our environment? Does size matter?
I am currently going through a Bible study called, Anything. The overall theme is giving anything to God; whatever He asks. She immediately jumps to the thoughts that cross all our minds when we feel called to give it all to God: "He's going to ask us to go to Africa or adopt a child." Our minds automatically jump to the big ticket item. But, what we miss is that God is calling us in the small.
I think many of us fall into the trap of thinking we cannot have an effect on the kingdom because we are small. We are not a pastor. We do not have a book deal and speaking tour. We are not missionaries to Uganda. We are just church goers trying to survive our day-to-day. We don't think that we can possibly have an impact for the Kingdom.
'And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."' Matthew 28:19
Jesus wasn't just talking to His disciples in this passage. He wasn't commissioning pastors only or those versed in theology. No. He was talking to you and I. No matter how big or small we may feel, we all have a place in the kingdom.
It doesn't matter how small or large your house it. What matters is how you use it. God gifts each of us with various talents and abilities in order to share the story of His son in different ways. We all matter. We all have a place. Find yours and run with it!
Love & Blessings,
Meg
"...but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31
