Texas Texture

Holy textured walls batman! I decided that it would be fun to paint my GINOROMOUS media room during the hottest part of the summer. Our media room is one large empty room and I'm ready to do something with it. I love to paint and thought what the heck. I've got some stress to let out. Give me a paint brush, some paint, and empty walls and my therapy session can begin!

What I didn't realize was that the builders in Texas L-O-V-E them some texture. It's like they took the texture spray gun and went crrrrrazy. I knew the walls were more textured than what I am used to in California from painting Jack's room but this is out of control! I have to primer the walls and ceiling first in order to get any paint to stick on the walls and oh my goodness gracious!!!! Might I add that I am covered in gray primer because it splatters as it "glides" over the highly textured Texas walls!

I am on my third day of "primering" and only have one strip left on the ceiling thank GOODNESS! Then the fun can start and I can paint the navy. I am hoping that the way the primer is glued to my body is an indication of how well the blue will just slide right on and stick beautifully on the walls. However, if I look like a smurf next time you see me you will know why!

P.S. Does anyone have any good ideas how to get primer off your body. I've tried scrubbing, peeling, swimming, and nail polish remover. The only thing I haven't tried is paint thinner because I'm a little weary about rubbing paint thinner on my legs.

Ha! You make me laugh! I love painting, too! What does Jackson do while you are painting? I really want to paint our dining room and kitchen, but I'm thinkin' Sadie will be in to EVERYTHING! About the paint...my dad used to use paint thinner, but I'm pretty sure it was just on his hands. May sting on the legs. If I come across any ways, I'll let you know!

My husband is a professional painter and he uses Vasoline and Baby Oil in the shower and looks good as new when he is done.

Jake uses some stuff in an orange container...a big one... for all of his dirty projects, including paint. The room looks good, though!

After using primer once and having my hair glued together, I use a grandpa type handkerchief for my hair and latex gloves for my hands and the rest I just scrubbed, but the baby oil and vaseline sound much better.

What happened to the mentioning of ABBA? I couldn't find that anywhere in your post.

Holy Holy

I can't stop singing, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty." Scott and I went to the "big" ultrasound today where we tested to see if our baby had Down's, one of the Trisomy disorders, or any neural tube defects. I must admit the palms were a little sweaty and the heart was racing a bit. As surreal as this pregnancy is, I don't want anything to be wrong with this precious life inside of me. Well, holy is right. The Lord is not just good; He is awesome! Our little baby instantly began moving and grooving for us showing off fingers and toes and a great heart beat! Even though I am on my third, watching the miracle of life on that screen NEVER gets old! It truly blows my mind every time I get to see our precious angels developing inside of me! The scan came out wonderfully. We got all positives on all the scans the doctor (who was absolutely INCREDIBLE) could do. Now we just wait for some blood work to confirm that everything is okay with our little boy. ...

The Cup

I walked into the kitchen and spotted a blue solo cup on the counter. The following conversation played out in my head: "Whose cup is this? Which kid took out yet another cup? Didn't I ask them to stop getting a new cup every time they needed a drink? What is wrong with these people? They obviously don't ever listen to me." In the midst of my frustration, I realized the cup was mine. Oopsies. Good thing I didn't speak those words aloud. I went on with my life and my to-do list leaving MY cup right where I found it. I am the grown-up and can leave my cup where ever my grown-up heart desires. I came back into the kitchen a little while later and saw the cup again. I completely forgot the cup was mine so I rehashed the above conversation in my head. I was baffled by who left that cup on the counter. And then I remembered it was me. Again. Y'all, I did this two more times throughout the night. It was like Groundhog's Day but I was the only one celebrat...

Baby on the Floor

Yesterday I was putting a couple of things in the closet for the baby of what is going to be the nursery. Jackson was helping me and asked me where the baby was going to live. I told him where and he was excited since the room is next to his. Later that night Scott and I asked him where the baby was going to sleep and he responded by telling us that the baby was going to sleep in his room. When I asked him where in his room he told me, "on the floor." Scott antagonized him telling him that the baby would not sleep in his room but in the nursery. Jackson got mad at him and yelled over and over again that the baby was sleeping in his room on the floor. Oh my...it starts already!
