"Who Who"

I notice/see a lot of birds here in Texas. Some are gorgeous while others are a little scary (like the black birds that migrate here in the fall/winter and you think they are going to attack you like the movie). It just seems that there are a lot more birds here and many like to annoy me. We had a family of birds move into our chimney last spring and they thought it would be fun to "tweet tweet" all day.

Anyway, on to my story. We have a family of owls that lives across the street near the creek. They seem to migrate over to our side of the street at night and "who" on and off during the night. Well, one lovely owl decided to "who" outside of Jack's room last night at 5:15am. You would've sworn the bird was in his room it was so loud. Of course Jackson woke up. He didn't just wake up lately. Oh no. He screamed like a banchee scared too death! I run upstairs to get him and he is petrified of the stupid "who-ing" owl! We bring our scared little monkey back to bed with us and by the time we get all situated and comfy the alarm goes off for Scott. Sweet! So, needless to say we have all been up since 5:15am. Yipee! Hopefully naptime will come early today!

P.S. If you happen to cross my path today I apologize in advance for being cranky!

I don't see how I can avoid crossing your path, but I'm certainly going to try.

I would be scared too if I was 2.

Oh and maybe he is just trying to get you ready for having baby #2! Ever since daylight savings Emma has been up EARLY! Usually around 6ish... I'm hoping she will figure things out soon!

Notoriety

Teenage Mother A donkey owner Simon of Cyrene Who are these people? I am sure you can figure out the first one: Mary the mother of Jesus. Who are the others and what do all three of these people have in common? They all did extraordinary things but, for the most part, went unseen. Do you ever feel unseen? Undervalued? I do. I try not to get caught up in that space, but I find myself there too often. While Mary is infamous today, she wasn't when she brought the King into this world. She was a teenager who gave birth in a barn. She was an outcast who was pregnant but not married. She told of an unbelievable story involving an angel, a Spirit, and a Savior who was going to save the world. Could you even imagine? It's easy for us to be in awe of Mary. We know the whole story. She didn't. And neither did the people around her. She had to live it. To top it all off, she had to watch her beloved son die a gruesome death. Talk about feeling unseen and undervalued. She faithfu...

Our Miracle

"He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted." Job 9:10 "You are the God who performs miracles; You will display Your power among the peoples." Psalm 77:14 Meet our miracle...and our secret. Yes, it is true. I am pregnant; about twelve weeks and a few days to be exact. We wanted to make sure this baby was healthy before announcing how great God has been to us! We have known about this precious little blessing for a little over two months and have eagerly awaited numerous sonogram and test results. We have witnessed God's mighty, yet gentle, hand every Tuesday for the past five weeks. This baby is a fighter. However, the road is not "clear" quite yet. We met with the pareanatoligist today to do a sonogram and blood test to determine if there are any chromosomal abnormalities; specifically Downs, and Trisomy 13 and 18. Although the sonogram looked great and the doctor said we were in the "safe zone," we are stil...

Don't Lose You

When Jackson was a baby, I would hop into my car on my lunch break and rush to his day care to see him. I had thirty minutes with my baby and I needed every last second. I was a mess of a new mom and had a really hard time leaving him everyday. I was caught in the conundrum of loving teaching with all that I was and loving being a mom desperately wanting to stay home. I established a neat relationship with Jack's care-takers. They were a little older than me and much wiser. They will never fully know how appreciative I am for their advice and comfort during those beginning moments as a mama. When I decided to leave my teaching career and move halfway across the country to do so, they gave me a piece of advice that I didn't take seriously initially but now hold dear. They told me I had to find something for me. They watched me finish my master's that year and knew I was the type that needed to be doing. They recognized that I was about to enter a season where I had to hold...
