Thirty Weeks & A Stubborn Boy

I cannot believe that I am already thirty weeks. I must admit that I feel thirty weeks pregnant and can't imagine getting much bigger! However, I cannot believe how quickly my second trimester went. I think I blinked and it passed. I am feeling great! I get a little tired in the late afternoon and don't have much room for food anymore, but, other than that, I am doing great. Grady is moving and shaking and I am beginning to feel limbs and feet instead of swift quick movements. He definitely likes to snuggle up on my right side a lot. We have started the nursery. The paint is done thanks to the awesome work of my husband and the crib and chair are built. We are just waiting for the dresser. We are all getting excited, especially Jackson. He helped Daddy with the nursery and is very excited to meet Grady and share his toys with him. He brought his ni-night blanket and pillow to Grady's room last night so he'd have one too. So, in ten short weeks we will be meeting this new little man in our lives. I am very excited but get a little sentimental toward the end. Once he comes out I have to share him with the world. Right now it's just me and him and I love it!

Speaking of the little booger, we went in for a second attempt at a 3D ultrasound. Like I mentioned above, Grady loves my right side. He has a TON of room on my upper left side but he prefers being all snuggled up on my right. This poses a problem for the sonographer trying to get 3D images. He likes to have his face all bunched up into my placenta not giving her a good angle to get an image. She tried and tried and then had me once again take a walk and drink something. I walked, I drank, and I even prodded the little guy. When we came back in the room he was apparently over the whole situation because he had completely turned his back on us. We couldn't even capture a regular image of his face because all we saw was the back of his head. I moved and shifted and prodded him some more to no avail. I hope this is not a precurser to what he is going to be like when he makes his debut. This house cannot have another stubborn person in it! Below are a couple of pictures we did get. One is of his head showing all the hair he already has (go figure). It's the fuzzy stuff that looks kind of blurry on his head. The other picture is of his face. His head is on the right and it shows his huge chubby cheeks!

His eyes, nose, big giant cheeks, and little chin

Oh, I almost forgot! My friend came over last week and did some maternity pictures. They came out FANTASTIC! You can view a few at www.selahportraits1.blogspot.com

Teenage Mother A donkey owner Simon of Cyrene Who are these people? I am sure you can figure out the first one: Mary the mother of Jesus. Who are the others and what do all three of these people have in common? They all did extraordinary things but, for the most part, went unseen. Do you ever feel unseen? Undervalued? I do. I try not to get caught up in that space, but I find myself there too often. While Mary is infamous today, she wasn't when she brought the King into this world. She was a teenager who gave birth in a barn. She was an outcast who was pregnant but not married. She told of an unbelievable story involving an angel, a Spirit, and a Savior who was going to save the world. Could you even imagine? It's easy for us to be in awe of Mary. We know the whole story. She didn't. And neither did the people around her. She had to live it. To top it all off, she had to watch her beloved son die a gruesome death. Talk about feeling unseen and undervalued. She faithfu...

Holy Holy

I can't stop singing, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty." Scott and I went to the "big" ultrasound today where we tested to see if our baby had Down's, one of the Trisomy disorders, or any neural tube defects. I must admit the palms were a little sweaty and the heart was racing a bit. As surreal as this pregnancy is, I don't want anything to be wrong with this precious life inside of me. Well, holy is right. The Lord is not just good; He is awesome! Our little baby instantly began moving and grooving for us showing off fingers and toes and a great heart beat! Even though I am on my third, watching the miracle of life on that screen NEVER gets old! It truly blows my mind every time I get to see our precious angels developing inside of me! The scan came out wonderfully. We got all positives on all the scans the doctor (who was absolutely INCREDIBLE) could do. Now we just wait for some blood work to confirm that everything is okay with our little boy. ...

Don't Lose You

When Jackson was a baby, I would hop into my car on my lunch break and rush to his day care to see him. I had thirty minutes with my baby and I needed every last second. I was a mess of a new mom and had a really hard time leaving him everyday. I was caught in the conundrum of loving teaching with all that I was and loving being a mom desperately wanting to stay home. I established a neat relationship with Jack's care-takers. They were a little older than me and much wiser. They will never fully know how appreciative I am for their advice and comfort during those beginning moments as a mama. When I decided to leave my teaching career and move halfway across the country to do so, they gave me a piece of advice that I didn't take seriously initially but now hold dear. They told me I had to find something for me. They watched me finish my master's that year and knew I was the type that needed to be doing. They recognized that I was about to enter a season where I had to hold...
